Age 93 of East Lansing died peacefully at home September 8, 2016. Donald was born May 30, 1923 in Gladstone, MI, the son of Irwin and Maude (Harris) Willis. He graduated from Gladstone High School and was a US Army veteran of WWII. He attended Michigan State University receiving several degrees including his PhD.

Age 93 of East Lansing died peacefully at home September 8, 2016. Donald was born May 30, 1923 in Gladstone, MI, the son of Irwin and Maude (Harris) Willis. He graduated from Gladstone High School and was a US Army veteran of WWII. He attended Michigan State University receiving several degrees including his PhD.
Donald worked for the State of Michigan for 38 years retiring as the Director of the Research Division for the MI Department of Civil Service and the Executive Secretary of the State Board of Ethics. He was also an adjunct professor at Western Michigan University. Donald was a member of the Church of the Resurrection for 65 years, where he served many of those years as an usher, Eucharistic Minister and hospital ministry. He was one of the original organizers of the State Employees Credit Union and the Gabriel's Credit Union. He loved fishing and enjoyed taking his grandchildren with him.
Donald is survived by his wife of 68 years, Delores Willis; children, Joan (Jerry) Gordenier, Mark (Therese) Willis, Greg (Debbe) Willis, Tim (Sharon) Willis and Susan (Mark) Cooper; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Rosemary Betke; brother, Dale Willis, and sister-in-law, Marie Willis. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Paddock and brother, Jack Willis.
The funeral mass will be celebrated, 10 am, Tuesday September 13th, at the Church of the Resurrection, 1531 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing with Fr. Steve Mattson officiating. The rite of committal will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Lansing, MI. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 12th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI with a scripture service being prayed at 6:30pm.
