Obituary


Judy's gentle soul entered heaven on Friday, March 27, 2015. Judy was born on Flag Day, June 14, 1943 in Westphalia, Michigan to George A. and Genevieve Droste. She is survived by her mother Genevieve, brother Bob, sister Linda, her special aunt and uncle Colleen and Jim Hayden and many cousins. Also to honor her memory are sister-like friends Arlene Woelfel, Ruth Doepker and Anita Rocker, along with many other loving and supportive friends.

Judy's gentle soul entered heaven on Friday, March 27, 2015. Judy was born on Flag Day, June 14, 1943 in Westphalia, Michigan to George A. and Genevieve Droste. She is survived by her mother Genevieve, brother Bob, sister Linda, her special aunt and uncle Colleen and Jim Hayden and many cousins. Also to honor her memory are sister-like friends Arlene Woelfel, Ruth Doepker and Anita Rocker, along with many other loving and supportive friends.

In 1970 Judy moved from Westphalia to Hawaii where she lived and worked loving the beauty and climate of the Islands. Judy moved back to Michigan in 1984 working for the State Dept. of Human Services; retiring in 2013. In October, 2013 Judy and 8 friends returned to the Islands to celebrate their 70th birthdays and many years of friendship.

Judy's artistic talents were expressed through her many beautiful creations for friends, weddings, birthdays, graduations and shows. She shared her creative passion for floral arrangements and tasteful decorations with anyone interested in learning from her.

Judy attended St. Mary School, Westphalia and was part of the last class to graduate from St. Mary High School in 1961.

Judy was a devote member of St. Mary Cathedral since 1984.

A celebration of Judy's life will take place at Mass at the Cathedral, 219 Seymour Ave., Lansing on Tuesday, April 7 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Msgr. Bernard Reilly as celebrant.

Visitation will be held at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing on Monday, April 6 from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. with recitation of the
Rosary at 7:00.
